<p>The lamp serves as a base for a flat picture screen and for visual display devices. High frequency pulses from an oscillator are superimposed on a glow discharge lamp which has suitable auxiliary electrodes. The term 'glow discharge lamp' covers a range of possible types e.g. a vacuum electronic tube without heating, with any number of electrodes, or shape. The background colour is controlled by the filling gas. It is applicable to t.v., communication systems, computer engineering, digital engineering, data processing, control monitors, measurement technique and stereoscopic vision, and both black-and-white and colour.</p> |
