<p>The gauge is for measuring the play between two components, especially that between a cam and an actuating rod in the valve control system of an IC engine. A body (1) carries two wedge shaped feelers (3B, 9A) with different wedge angles, one fixed to the body and the other sliding with a vernier gauge to read its position. The wedges are introduced into the gap until both wedges just fit between the opposing components, and the effective gap is then read off from the calibration of the vernier scale.</p> |
