The yoke and armature are each made of a sheet metal strip wound in a coil. The yoke and/or the armature are provided with edge recesses for inserting a prefabricated coil. In this arrangement at least one recessed region is located inside the coil and at least one such region is located outside the same. The recesses in the sheet metal strip are provided by stamping at preset spacing and width prior to winding. The yoke and armature strip coils are so peripherally deformed as to form a magnetic circuit with at least on E-shaped portion of the yoke and/or armature. The deformation is realised by pressure directed orthogonally to the outer surface of the coil.
