Gps. of non-twisted (chopped) fibres are impregnated with a liq. bonding agent which is mixed with a dye and a latent chemical reagent (I); the fibres are pressed to release excess liq. and consolidate the fibres into a wetted tape; the tape is heated until the reagent simultaneously activates the fibres to a dye receptive state; th fibres become both dyed and bonded together; residual reagent is eliminated; and the coloured, cohesive tape is dried. |
