<p>1536137 Handling sheets PILKINGTON BROS Ltd 25 Feb 1976 [6 March 1975] 9462/75 Heading B8R [Also in Division C1] Glass sheets S supported on a conveyer are separated into separate portions by: cutting or scoring each sheet to define the portions (e.g. to define three portions) which are disposed transversely across the conveyer; gripping each portion at a take-off station 2 by a group (5, 7, 8) of suction gripping devices (e.g. 7A, 7B, 5A, 5B, and 8A, 8B); and causing relative movement of each group of gripping devices in a direction parallel to the plane of the sheet S to separate the portions (see Fig. 4(e)). The separation of the groups of gripping devices is by actuation of hydraulic jacks 12 and 14, groups 7 and 8 moving along support rail 6. The rail 6 forms part of frame 4 of a carriage 3 which may be moved (e.g. by jack 43) along gantry 17, so that the separated sheet portions may be carried to a stacking station 22 and deposited on stacks 25, 26, 27 (by release of suction). The stacks may be subsequently moved, by raising support arms mounted on carriage 23, to a tilt table 28.</p> |
