摘要 1536625 Extracorporeal blood circuits SHILEY LABORATORIES INC 5 May 1977 [10 May 1976] 18790/77 Heading A5R [Also in Division F4] In a heat exchange apparatus for an extracorporeal blood circuit extended flow paths for the blood are provided by flute passages 45 formed on the exterior of tubular heat transfer means (shown as helically wound tubes 39, 41) disposed in a chamber 11 through which the blood is circulated while a heat transfer fluid such as water circulates through the tubes, each said flute passage being defined between helically extending ribs 43 on the tubes, which ribs are hollow and communicate with the flow space within the tube. The tubes are disposed in a flow space defined within an outer casing 12 by a central column 30. The tubes 39, 41 are preferably of aluminium and are coated externally with a film of polyurethane. The heat exchanger may as shown be mounted in the blood-oxygen mixing chamber of a blood oxygenator; or in the defoaming chamber 37 thereof. Or the heat exchanger may comprise a separate horizontally extending unit in the extracorporeal blood circuit, (Figs. 5, 6 not shown). The oxygenator shown comprises a conduit 15 discharging venous blood into a chamber 24. Oxygen entering at the port 20 is caused by a sparger 23 to form a plurality of bubbles in the blood and the mixture flows upwardly through cellular mixing material 25 to the heat exchange zone from which it discharges to a channel 33 leading to the defoamer 37.
