PURPOSE:To attain data communication through a data terminal connected to an extension and an ISDN line by providing a speed matching means inside a key telephone system housing the ISDN line. CONSTITUTION:A data communication adapter 20 being equipped with the speed matching means is provided. The data communication adapter 20 consists of a CPU 21 to control the whole processing of the adapter 20 including a speed converting processing, a ROM 22 to store a processing procedure, a RAM 23 to temporarily store the data as a work area, a transmitting/receiving circuit A 24, a transmitting/receiving circuit B 25, a buffering memory 26 of the transmitting/receiving data for the speed converting processing, etc. The received data are stored into a transmitting/receiving buffer 32, and the data are transmitted. Thus, a data communication speed can be matched between the data terminal connected to the extension and the ISDN line.
