PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the concn. of objective gas with high accuracy while suppressing the consumption of a gas detecting tape. SOLUTION: Gas is allowed to flow in a measuring head for a predetermined time at every sampling cycle to execute preparatory measurement before the execution of final measurement. When the measured value is equal to or less than a reference value, at least a plurality of sampling cycles are repeated without feeding a tape (a) and, when the measured value exceeds the reference value, the feed of the tape is executed to perform re-measurement (b), (c).
