<p>1494131 Flame retardant dialkylphosphonoacetyl ureas HENKEL & CIE GmbH 3 Jan 1975 [5 Jan 1974] 172/75 Heading C2P [Also in Division D1] Novel compounds of Formula I where R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are identical C 1-4 alkyl and R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> are each C 1-4 alkyl, -CH 2 OH or -CH 2 OC 1-4 alkyl or R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> together represent a C 2 or C 3 hydrocarbon chain, at least one of R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> being -CH 2 OH or -CH 2 OC 1-4 alkyl, may be prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II where R<SP>7</SP>, R<SP>8</SP> and R<SP>9</SP> are each H or C 1-4 alkyl or R<SP>7</SP> and R<SP>8</SP> together represent a C 2 or C 3 hydrocarbon chain, at least one of R<SP>7</SP>, R<SP>8</SP> and R<SP>9</SP> being H, with a tri(C 1-4 alkyl) phosphite, reacting the product obtained, which may be isolated, with formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde and optionally etherifying the -CH 2 OH group(s) produced. The compounds of Formula I may be used as flame retardants for cellulose containing materials, such as cotton.</p> |
