<p>IMPROVEMENTS IN ARTICLE-HANDLING APPARATUS An article handling system has a first feeding device for conveying the articles towards a packing device, a storage for the articles, and a second feeding device for conveying the articles between the storage and the packing device. The first and second feeding devices are controllable so that the articles are conveyed as a stream towards or away from the storage according to the operating conditions of a device producing the articles and the packing device, the second feeding device being arranged to convey the articles as a stream towards or away from the storage. The storage includes a transfer device for inserting portions of this stream of articles into a container for storage whilst the stream is fed towards the storage or for removing portions from a container to reform the stream whilst it is fed away from the storage.</p> |
