Protein growth factor related to TNF-beta and coupled with a toxic moiety for use in treating prostate cancer

Use of an isolated or recombinant protein that selectively inhibits the proliferation of androgen-independent prostate cancer cells. Also disclosed is a composition for treating androgen-independent prostate cancer, the composition containing the before-mentioned protein coupled to a toxic moiety. The toxic moiety is selected from the group consisting of ricin, tetanus and diphtheria.
