PURPOSE: To obtain a Japanese plum-apricot cross tree variant named 'red velvet plum-cot' in a species name by mating Japanese plug seedlings with apricots. CONSTITUTION: This Japanese plum-apricot cross tree variant named 'red velvet plum-cot' in the species name is obtd. by producing the fruits which assume the combination having the flavors of both of the Japanese plums and the apricots, have the shapes of the typical Japanese plums and the appearance somewhat resembling the appearance of the Japanese plum in terms of the possession of soft hairs from the Japanese plum seedlings formed by randomly pollinating the pollens of the Japanese plums.
