The safety ladder is for use with boats, having a single upright (1), with rungs (3) which fold into line with it, to reduce the dimensions. The upright can be recessed to accommodate the rungs when folded out of use. The ladder can be mounted on the boat by a support allowing it to assume a suitable position whatever the angle of the surface to which the support is fitted. The support comprises a plate screwed to the hull, and two sides (4, 5) each with a hole near the top to accommodate a pivot pin in the ladder. At the bottom there are further holes accommodating another pin which forms a support for the upright rear face. By fitting this pin in different pairs of holes, the angle of inclination of the ladder may be adjusted.
