The insert has at least one principal fastening element (8) which comprises two U-shaped profiles of different lengths. The shorter profile (10) engages around the upper edge of a side wall (7) of the transporting container, while the longer profile (9) is firmly connected at its upper end to the shorter profile and hangs down vertically on the inner side of the side wall. At least one member (13) is further provided on the principal fastening element in order to prevent the same from sliding on the side wall. The insert makes it possible, in a particularly simple manner, to subdivide the available space in the transporting container, in a manner corresponding to the dimensions of the items to be transported, by intermediate walls and floors and, furthermore, to attach retaining elements which are adapted to particular items to be transported. <IMAGE>
