An electrical fitting for coupling fluorescent lighting to a wall or a ceiling, consists of two sections linked by a bayonet. It also provides protection against shock.One section is a plug (3) with contact bolts (4) for the supply cable. The other section has a box shaped housing which contains a socket (2) with the mains connections. Each socket contact (8) has a contact plate (5) with a curved slotted hole (9) to engage the contact pin (4). The internal dimension of the slotted hole is smaller than the maximum diameter of the contact pin which is divided into two sections having different diameters.
