The sound absorption element has an elastic hose section and is for damping water noise e.g. in sanitary fittings. The hose section consists of an integral hollow ring (1) of a permanently elastic material such as rubber. The hollow space encloses air or a similar medium, to absorb acoustic vibrations. The ring is cylindrical and has several axial and/or radial reinforcing ribs dividing the hollow space. The element is integral unit and is not necessarily sealed relative to the sanitary fitting.
