Semi-rigid radial straps are secured to a vehicle wheet by a rigid annular or polygonal support which leaves clear access to the wheel hub. Pref. 5 clamps are secured at regular angular intervals by sliding clamps. pref. by use of an elastic spacer. Extra tyre traction is provided without need of access to the opposite face of the wheel and without inhibiting the removal or mounting of wheels fitted with straps. Radial compression of a strap in contact with the ground is automatically opposed >=2 other straps which are simultaneously below the level of the rolling axis.
