The device for finding anyone buried in an avalanche consists essentially of an avalanche rope (2) and a rising balloon (5). Both are accommodated in a receptacle (1) which is to be buckled onto the body, e.g. the upper arm, and can be torn open by hand. One end of the avalanche rope is attached to the bottom (3) of the receptacle and the other is attached to the balloon. By tearing the receptacle open, the balloon rises into the sky with the end of the avalanche rope attached to it. The other end of the rope remains connected to the person buried by virtue of the receptacle. The device thus triggered allows the victim to be located without delay. <IMAGE>
