The vehicle units include in each case a safety device, which interrupts the drive when one vehicle unit collides with the vehicle unit in front until the vehicle unit in front has moved out of the way. This safety device has a sealed contact (161) on the front (14) of each vehicle unit (41, 42) and a magnet (181) parallel to the said contact (161) at the same level at the rear (20). The magnet (181) of a vehicle unit (41) actuates the sealed contact (161) of a colliding vehicle unit (42). Each vehicle unit (41, 42) may additionally have a sealed contact (162) on its rear (20) and a magnet (182) in a corresponding position on the front (14). Then a device is necessary for acting on the sealed contact (161, 162) which is respectively situated at the front in the direction of travel. <IMAGE>
