Dowel plug driving machine feed system - has clamp in feed track with retainer alternately clamping and releasing paired plugs

Machine is used for pressing dowel plugs into wooden or wood-type panels, or similar workpieces (12), provided with holder openings for these. There is a presser plunger (21) moving in a pressing channel, and a device conveying plugs individually to the front of this, with a conveyor track above the channel (20) and pref. at an angle to it, and a holding device for the plug following the one being pressed in. Here there is a plug clamping device in the conveyor track, (24) with a retainer device alternately clamping or releasing two plugs (22), arranged one behind the other in the direction of movement. This permits smooth plug conveyance in a rhythmic process, even with plugs of different thickness, with only one plug dropping in front of the pluger at a time.
