The pneumatic alignment system forms an exact arched stack of sheets of widely differing materials, these being delivered one by one. It functions either in synchronism with the respective machine, eg a parting shear, or uses a number of strokes to thrust the sheets against the fixed stop. It comprises one or more pneumatic rams (2), the pistons of which can be thrust (3) in both directions by vacuum or compressed air, or by either of these in one direction only, the return stroke being effected by spring (6). The abutment plate can be bent over at the side against which the stack bears, in the direction in which the sheets travel and fall, to guide them into place.
