<p>PURPOSE:To decrease the circuit scale to facilitate the constitution, and to improve the compensation capability by adding an additional symbol to an original cell so as to adjust the cell length of a coded input cell and making r pcs. of cells coincident with q pcs. of error correction codes totally. CONSTITUTION:An additional symbol insertion circuit SI inserts an additional symbol to an original cell as required to adjust a cell length of a coded input cell CIC. An error correction coder EC generates a coded output cell COC applied with an error correction coding to a coded input cell CIC. Prior to the coding, r pcs. of coding input cells and information symbols of q pcs. of error correction codes are correspondent with each other and after the coding, r pcs. of coded output cells and coding words of q pcs. of error correction codes are made corresponding with each other. Thus, the additional symbol is added to the original cell to adjust the cell length of the coded input and the r pcs. of cells and the q pcs. of error correction codes are totally correspondent. Thus, the constitution parameter of the error correction code is selected without being restricted by the original cell length.</p> |
