The module consists of a main thyristor and a control semiconductor. The control semiconductor can be a reversing diode or transistor. The main thyristor and the control semiconductor are thermally connected to each other in order to obtain a better heat distribution in the module. The main thyristor (1) and the control semiconductor (5, 8) are made as disc shaped elements (11, 12, 13) and stacked in the same housing. A second control semiconductor (8) can be introduced to act as an extinguishing thyristor. The discs are fitted on a thermally conducting plate which is insulated from the base plate (19) by an insulating layer (18).
