发明名称 CUTTING TOOL MADE OF SURFACE COATED CERAMICS HAVING EXCELLENT WEAR RESISTANCE
摘要 PURPOSE:To develop the cutting tool having high strength, high toughness and excellent wear resistance by treating the surface of a substrate consisting of a mixture composed of the carbide, nitride and carbonitride of Ti contg. whiskers at a specific ratio and alumina by a CVD or PVD method to form a hard layer on the surface. CONSTITUTION:The mixture consisting of 20 to 50vol.% one or >=2 kinds of fine powders of hard materials of TiC, TiN, TiCN systems, 10 to 80vol.% of which are formed of the whiskers, and further 0.5 to 10vol.% fine powder of the oxides of Mg, Ti, Zr, Y and rare earth elements and the balance the fine powder of the alumina is hot pressed and sintered, thereafter, the surface thereof is subjected to the CVD or PVD treatment to form plural layers of the hard layers consisting of the TiC, TiN, TiCN and Al2O3 having 0.1 to 100mum average thickness as the cutting tool for cutting steel products and cast irons having high strength and hardness. The cutting tool which is excellent in the strength, toughness and wear resistance and is adequate for high-speed cutting of steels and cast irons is thus obtd.
