A tube joint, to connect another tube to a container or to a further tube, is produced by making a hole in the container/tube wall and bonding the end of the first tube around the hole. The end of the first tube and the material round the hole are of thermosetting or vulcanising material, and the bonded parts are cured/vulcanised at the same time. High strength bond is produced esp. if one or both materials contain reinforcement. The process is partic. suitable for bonding branch pieces to tubing and for use with e.g. ethylene-propylene copolymers or natural rubber or neoprene (with fabric reinforcements). |
