Rigid blade carrier (2) is vertically adjustable on the blade beam (1) of a unit for changing the blade in a cutting machine for paper, cardboard etc. The blade carrier has on its lower side one or more projections (3) which engage in holes (4) in the blade (5). The projections and holes are arranged symmetrically to the vertical central line of the blade. The length of the projections corresponds to the thickness of the blade. The projections are mounted on downward directed flanges (8) on the carrier.
