The thermal sensor (Bt1,Bt2) may be a thermoelectric junction and the potential difference at the junctions terminals is measured or a resistive electrical conductor such as a wire or printed circuit whose resistance varies with temperature. The temperature to which the sensor is submitted reduces under the action of acceleration so auxiliary heaters (Br1,Br2) modify the temperature. Method of thermal measurement of an acceleration, speed and/or position and/or an incline. Uses a predetermined volume of gaseous fluid (F) contained in a closed enclosure (E), fluid heaters (Bc) and thermal sensors (Bt1,Bt2), immersed in the fluid, and separated from the heater(s). The sensor is designed to produce an electric signal which varies with temperature. The sensor is included in an electric circuit (1) which measures the variations in the electrical signal output. The temperature measured by the sensor (Bt1,Bt2) is modified so as to compensate for the variation in temperature due to the measured acceleration (/=y). On the basis of pre-established calibration, having established a one to one correspondence between the thermal compensation power and the corresponding value of acceleration, the measured acceleration value is determined.
