<p>1535638 Remotely controllable locking cap NEIMAN SA 29 Sept 1977 [6 Oct 1976] 40522/77 Heading B8T [Also in Division E2] A pivoted cap 4, e.g. a petrol filler cap, is held closed against the action of spring 5 by capture of pin 26 thereon within a cam slot 24, Fig. 2, of a member 20 rotatable about a fixed shaft 17, member 20 itself being held in the locking position by a pin 18 on a slide 16 spring-urged to the left, Fig. 1. Release of cap 4 is occasioned when electromagnet 9, 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4, is energized thereby attracting armatures 12, 12<SP>1</SP> pivoted to casing 3 at 14, 14<SP>1</SP> and to slide 16 at 15, 151 thereby causing the slide to move to the right to release member 20 which then rotates anticlockwise, Fig. 2, under the action of spring 21 to release in turn pin 26. It is stated that the pivoted double armature arrangement with intermediate slide 16 reduces the risk of inadvertent cap release due to impact forces acting on the armatures.</p> |
