1535792 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 6 Oct 1976 [29 Oct 1975] 41560/76 Heading F1F In apparatus such as a hand-held percussion wrench, Fig. 1 (not shown), leakage of working fluid e.g. air, from a radial admission and discharge bore(s) 13', 14' in a fixed part 10 of a motor, and also from an annular duct(s) 16, 17 in a rotary "drum" 12 encircling the part 10, through an annular gap 11 is prevented by a flexible and resilient sealing ring(s) 24, 27, 30, which is held against the wall(s) of a groove(s) 22, 25, 28 and recess(es) 23, 26, 29 therefor by the pressure of the working fluid. When the air is admitted through the bore 13' and discharged through the bore 14' the ring 30 may be omitted, leakage through the respective part of the gap 11 then being prevented by other means (not shown). Alternatively, the groove(s) 22, 25, 28 and recess(es) 23, 26, 29 are disposed in the part 10 and the drum 12, respectively, Fig. 3 (not shown). Instead of being circular in cross-section the ring(s) may have rectangular cross-sectional shapes, in which case the recess(es) 23, 26, 29 is dispensed with, Fig. 4 (not shown), and the ring(s) may be split in various ways, Figs. 5-12 (not shown). The motor may be of the sliding-vane type and have an external rotor and internal stator to which the drum 12 and part 10 are attached, respectively.
