1535187 Brakes GIRLING Ltd 8 June 1976 [9 June 1975] 24697/75 Heading F2E A housing 8 is moved longitudinally to apply thrust, via a screw 15 and a complementarily threaded thrust member 16, to an elongated body 10 of friction material, the thrust member being permitted to rock under braking and reaction forces into contact with the housing as shown in Fig. 4. The thrust member may simultaneously force the screw into contact with the opposite wall of the housing, as shown. The housing is of flattened tube-like form (Fig. 2, not shown). Screw 15 and member 16 are relatively rotated to adjust the body 10 relative to the housing for wear compensation. The body 10 may act on wheel side surfaces as shown or on a wheel tread or drum exterior. |
