Joining or reinforcing of thermoplastics (faced) materials to repair a thermoplastics container crack is effected by applying a foraminous reinforcement with heating before or after application so that the thermoplastics melt can at least partly penetrate into the reinforcement openings before setting. The thermoplastics is pref. glass-reinforced PVC or nylon and the reinforcement is pref. wire mesh strap, gauze, perforated strip or plate, grid or expanded metal and may be partially embedded in a layer of thermoplastics tape before application. A thermostatically-controlled heated tool is pref. used to heat and apply press. to the reinforcement.
