A continuous electrical power variation control unit is connected to a first group of fan motors and to a switch which interrupts the supply to a second group of fan motors. The power (P2) developed by the second group of fan motors is either null or equal to its maximum operating power. Ventilation system for an automobile including first and second groups of electric fan motors each having a maximum operating power (PM1,PM2). The system includes a control unit designed to vary the air cooling power (P1+2), developed by the two groups of fan motors, as a function of a total power level (PTC). The control unit includes an electronic calculator which receives an input signal (Si) representing the total cooling air power level (PTC). The calculator delivers as output, a part of the level signal (S0) to the electrical power variation unit, which represents the air level power for the first group of fan motors. The other part of the control signal (SC), representing the level for the second fan motor group is fed to the switch. The power level sum for the two fan motor groups is equal to the total power level (PTC).
