<p>The machine is fed with yarn from bobbins on spindles at the back of the machine. Rollers feed the yarns to the machine, by simple friction, passing them through a yarn guide and a tension device. The machine comprises a shaft on the upper part of the machine frame, the shaft being rotated with an alternating movement over a slight-angled course. Lead elements which position the guide pins mounted on their outer faces, adopt a convergent position between the corresponding latch needles, which are mounted to rise and fall on the plates. The rise and fall of the needles are synchronised with the alternating movement of the guide pins on the supporting bars which are pushed from one and intermittently by a chain drum. The tapes are intended as bandages for medical dressings. As compared with woven bandages, the prodn. is considerably increased, and the production cost is lower. They may be varied in width according to the knitting programme, and in thickness according to the number of needle beds used.</p> |
