The sealing insert is provided with a rotationally symmetrical jacket which carries radially on the outside an anchoring rib which is used for anchorage in a sealing compound back filling, is stiff in bending and has interruptions (13) which are distributed over the circumference of said rib, are broad, are free of material and extend from a cylindrical surface (50), which touches the anchoring rib on the outside, at least as far as a cylindrical surface (60) which touches a reinforcing insert of the anchoring rib, so that the annular reinforcing insert is exposed in these interruptions (13). When the sealing insert is used in extremely narrow sockets, the anchoring rib can rest on the inner wall of said sockets without a gap, as a result of these interruptions (13), while the sealing compound can nevertheless flow behind the anchoring rib. <IMAGE>
