<p>1534342 Honeycomb material LANCASTER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CORP 16 Feb 1976 [19 Feb 1975] 05962/76 Heading B5N Honeycomb material is produced by continuously feeding and securing an evennumbered plurality of webs of flexible sheet material, e.g. paper, together in face-to-face superimposed relation along wires extending longitudinally of the webs and spaced transversely across the webs substantially at equal intervals to form a composite web the wires on each web being located intermediate those on an adjacent web, continuously feeding the - composite web along a path into a free festoon in which the composite web is supported substantially without tension or compression, intermittently feeding the composite web forward on predetermined, increments from the festoon applying longitudinally extending stripes of adhesive to the outside face of one of the webs constituting one outside face of the composite web after it issues from the festoon, each of the stripes being positioned intermediate the lines on the inside face of the one web securing it to the other webs comprising the composite web, crush cutting the composite web using an anvil and blade movable relatively toward and away from one another to form a segment, stacking the segments with the adhesive stripes on one of the segments on the one outside face thereof in engagement with the other outside face of the next adjacent segment of the stack and compressing the segments in the stack to form a homeycomb. A heater may be provided to at least partically cure the adhesive joining the webs constituting the composite web between the securing means and the festoon.</p> |
