1534631 Toothed gearing THYSSEN INDUSTRIE AG 23 Sept 1977 [25 Sept 1976] 39727/77 Heading F2Q A gearbox, for an extruder having two contra-rotating screws, comprises two gearing output shafts 8, 9 mounted in a casing 2a, 2b which is separate from a reduction gearing casing 1 and a screw casing to and between which it is secured, the shafts 8, 9 having splined sleeves 11 for coupling to the screws, in which the shafts 8, 9 are supported by thrust bearings 6, 14 and axially spaced radial bearings 10 and are provided between the radial bearings 10 with intermeshing teeth 8a, 9a of equal size. The teeth 8a, 9a may be helical with helix angles such that the axial force component from the transmission of torque for the output shaft 9 driven through the helical teeth is oppositely directed to the back-pressure of the screw which it drives. A disc 13 at the end of the shaft 8 which is driven by the reduction gear is dimensioned to give the desired clearance between the screw flanks. |
