<p>A process for reducing the amount of basic impurities, especially N-heterocyclic compounds, in adiponitrile is disclosed. The process comprises treating adiponitrile with a weak-acid cation exchange resin in the presence of water. The cation exchange resin is used in its hydrogen form. The process is particularly useful in the purification of adiponitrile manufactured from adipic acid and ammonia.</p> |
