In a missile having a fuse for detonating the missile warhead in the proximity of a target, means associated with said fuse for sensing the presence of a target, and means responsive to the sensing of a target by said sensing means for delaying the detonation of said warhead for an internally varied time interval until said missile is at an optimum position with respect to said target.
