The apparatus also includes a gas admission tube 6, a hollow driving shaft 8 of the defoamer 7, which serves as an outlet for gas, and a control system 9 arranged to actuate valves 4, 5 in response to signals from the pressure meter (PC) and level meter (LC). The method is applicable particularly to aerobic fermentation, for example the microbiological purification of effluents, involving intensive foam formation varying at irregular intervals. |
