Larvae and the first post larval stages of the shrimp Penaeus japonicus are raised in a process in which, from the nauplius to the second mysis stage, they are given phytoplankton based on the algae Monochrysis lutheri and Isochrysis galbana, Phaeodactylum tricornutum and Tetraselmis suecica in predetermined proportions which varies according to the larval stage, zooplankton and pseudozooplankton being excluded. Process gives a good survival rate and uses food which is more readily available than conventional foods for the raising of shrimp larvae. |
