The spreading machine has a feed mechanism which feeds the material under gravity to a thrower mechanism. The shaft (8) of the thrower mechanism (5) is so arranged relative to the shaft (2) of the feed mechanism (1) that there are different penetrations between the material flow (12) and the contact face (14) of the thrower mechanism (5) locally along the shaft (8) at the thrower mechanism (5). The shaft (8) of the thrower mechanism (5) can be adjusted in angle with respect to the shaft (2) of the feed mechanism (1).
