<p>The machine is of the type in which needles extend from a manifold which is fed with brine by a reciprocating piston pump. The piston is driven by direct coupling to the ram of an hydraulic power cylinder. Displacement of the ram, and hence the piston, is controllable by an hydraulic regulator, partic. one which cam apply actuating fluid to either face of the ram as required. This provides control of the volume of brine delivered by the piston pump without varying the pressure at which the brine is injected. Given constant pressure ram actuation, the pump delivers at constant pressure no matter whether max. vol. is injected or only a small proportion of that vol.</p> |
