Piston rods on which the pistons and cups of presses, such as cocoa presses, are supported are fixed with one end collar in a piston block and with the collar at the other end to a counter block. The casing for the blocks is machined to accept the piston rods and has at the end a flat surface passing through the centre of the piston rod. This is taken up by a filler piece. Next to it, a parallel face with a shoulder between them accepts a clamping plate to fix the piston rod in the block. Threads at the end of the piston rod which may fail when large forces are exerted are eliminated. Exchange of the piston rods is facilitated.
