<p>The telephone exchange avoids the additional number of group selector outputs needed for general interest and emergency telephone numbers (i.e. numbers that are the same throughout the country) and allows these subscriber sets to be connected to the outputs of line selectors and does so without prejudicing the use of relatively short numbers and of numbers already allocated. When a short telephone number is recognised a request signal is sent to the central identifier, which is used instead of the actual telephone number.</p> |
