At least one traffic light signal lamp is placed at a signal point, switched on or off, and/or changed in colour from a control point. Each signal lamp has an indicator which transmits to the control point signals indicating the signal lamp states. A light guiding cable (3) connects the control point with the signal lamp (2). Light is fed into the cable at the control point, and is collected from it in the signal lamp through an optical system (6). A radiation receiver (7) in the signal lamp collects a part of the radiation and feeds it back into the cable. A photoreceiver (8) registers the returned radiation.
