The pivoting plates (9) are designed in such a manner that they have a horizontal part (10) which projects beyond the card index box (1) and two spring legs (11) adjoining said part. Each of the spring legs is provided at the bottom with a groove (12), the groove forming a snap-in fastening with the edge of the holding slots (8). The pivoting plate can thus no longer slip upwards out of the holding slots and at the same time serve as carrying handles for the card index box. <IMAGE>
