<p>The safety switch for a high speed centrifuge, prevents accidental starting as long as the lid is not closed completely. The bottom part (10) and top part (12) interlock and carry a lid. The lid has on its extreme edge a small recess into which the tip of a spring loaded catch pivoting on part of the top engages. When the lid is completely pressed down, the catch snaps into the recess and prevents its opening unless a push button forming an integral part of the catch arm is pressed. The electric motor driving the centrifuge is started by a switch (24) with a sliding button on the front of the top part (12) adjacent to the lid release button. The body of the switch has on its top a blind hole in which a spring-loaded steel ball (26) operates in two resting positions (12r, 12rr) in the inside surface of the top part. This surface has a further recess (12s) into which the top of a safety catch (28) rests due to the pressure of a spring (30) when the lid is not closed. This position of the catch prevents sliding movement of the switch as long as protrusion (18v) on the lid does not push the catch out of the recess (12s).</p> |
