If data blocks are being written between the markers in the same operation, the initiation of data writing by circuits 18 is made dependent on the completion of marker writing, or is delayed by a certain amount after detection of a marker by decoder 14. The decoder 14 may also be used to recognize synchronizing signals which are used to condition the data read circuits 19.
