<p>1533967 Spanners H M BOWMAN 27 April 1977 [16 June 1976] 17688/77 Heading B3N [Also in Division F1] A fire hydrant locking device, to prevent undesirable tampering, includes a rigid spider 12 having a top 12a and legs 12b which each have a foot 12c adapted to be secured to a fire plug structure 11 of known type, the spider top 12a having a central circular opening 12d to receive a downwardly extending portion 18 of a dome 10 which encompasses the spider 12 and snugly fits at 10c around the fire plug. The dome 10 is rotatably retained in place by a ring 19, and the portion 18 has a non-circular recess 22 to snugly fit the operating nut 23 of the hydrant. The dome 10 can be rotated, and hence the nut 23 rotated and the water turned on, only by means of a wrench 25 which has projections 25b adapted to fit into arcuate recesses 24 provided part way down the skirt of the dome 10.</p> |
