1534064 Power plant ENTREPRISE INDUSTRIELLE DE CHAUDRONNERIE 19 March 1976 [21 March 1975] 11257/76 Heading F1Q Low grade heat from a first fluid is used to produce mechanical power or kinetic energy by superheating a liquid second fluid which is subsequently expanded. The gaseous second fluid (e.g. saturated hydro-carbon or fluorinated hydrocarbon) is liquified in a condenser 9 and pumped by pump 12 at a pressure greater than its critical pressure through a pre-heater 8, where it is preheated by gaseous second fluid coming from a turbine outlet, to a superheater 1 where heatexchange occurs with the first fluid. The superheated liquid second fluid passes via a regulator 5 to a turbine 6 where it immediately expands to produce mechanical power. The condensor 9 is cooled by a third gaseous fluid e.g. air, which may pass to the superheater 1 to mix with the first fluid. The power may be used to drive a compresser 21 which circulates a quantity of the second fluid in a reversible heat-pump circuit which acts either as a cooling or heating circuit in air-conditioning apparatus. The turbo-compressor 6,21 arrangement may be replaced by a thermocompressor driving a similar reversible heat-pump circuit. |
